IF I AM AWARDED A SPONSORSHIP, HOW ABOUT MY FAMILY?Between November 2022 and November 2023, it is on record that more than 800,000 Nigerians (family included) migrated to the UK...please bear in mind that Uk population currently stands at 63 million and in one year alone, Nigerian agencies brought in almost a million people in addition with many of them uncertain of the jobs available. Independent Research has revealed and is now publicly available information, that up to 30% of these people PAID for their Sponsorships with prices ranging from N10 million to N15 million as they believed that as long as they left Nigeria, life would automatically be better. Many of these offending agencies have been investigated and their licences REVOKED ... and everyone to whom they issued sponsorship, the UK govt has issued a 60 day notice to leave Uk. New laws have now been passed that automatically restrict families from joining when one parent has a sponsorship, and even though these are being revisited and talks ongoing, the income threshold for applying for your family to join you has been further increased to act as a deterrent while anyone issued a notice today as a result of your agency's licence revoked or suspended now has 15 days, not 60 to get a new job or leave the uk. Nigerian couples planning for relocation are now doing the trainings together so that if accepted, both their incomes would guarantee the children can join them. ARE UK AGENCIES ALLOWED TO CHARGE FOR SPONSORSHIP OR JOBS?No. It is illegal for UK-based recruitment agencies to impose fees on individuals for the promise of securing employment opportunities. If using a recruitment agent, sponsors must ensure the agency does not charge individual workers for job placements. Employers are only allowed to transfer the £239 Certificate of Sponsorship fee to workers.

WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY BEEN PROMISED SPONSORSHIP FOR A FEE?If a sponsor is asking for money to issue a COS (certificate of sponsorship) then it is immediately suspect. There are many thousands of health and care workers that are in the U.K after paying as high as £25,000 for their COS. There may be some who believe this is the cost of getting a COS, however it does not take much research to establish the a COS does not costs the Sponsor thousands. For those that believe they are buying their way in to the U.K - you take your chance and off you go. If you are unable to find a real sponsor once you arrive there is very little you can expect other than the visa to be cancelled and the process of removing you from the U.K to begin.

WHY ARE THERE PROBLEMS WITH CARE HOMES?Low pay, job insecurity and poor working conditions fuelled by years of under-investment in the sector and extra strain during the pandemic led to a massive shortage of care workers by late 2021. But the number of overseas care workers has rocketed since early 2022 after ministers relaxed immigration rules to try to plug the vacancies in the sector. Care workers are now classed as 'skilled', meaning licensed employers can issue overseas staff Certificates of Sponsorship to apply for Health and Care Worker Visas.
